11 May May is Mental Health Awareness Month 2020
It is essential to recognize that mental health is as important as physical health and as such, deserves timely and evidence-based care. While 1 in 5 people will experience mental illness during their lifetime, everyone faces challenges that can impact their mental health.
Recently, we’ve all experienced changes and challenges that can affect mental health. In uncertain times, it’s important to focus on what we need to do to thrive. The good news is there are practical tools that everyone can use to improve their mental health and increase resiliency – and there are ways that everyone can be supportive of friends, family, and co-workers who are struggling with life’s challenges or their mental health.
For each of us, the tools we use to keep us mentally healthy will be unique. But mental illnesses are real, and recovery is possible. Finding what works for you may not be easy but can be achieved by gradually making small changes and building on those successes
Mental Health America, a non-profit advocacy organization, recently launched their Mental Health Awareness Month toolkit filled with Tools to Thrive. Below, we’ve shared our favorite tools from the May 2020 toolkit.
It is important to understand that seeking early mental health intervention can have a huge positive impact not just on emotional health, but also on social relationships and physical wellbeing.
There is no better time to get the help you need than now.
Life-Saving Treatment Can’t Wait
We’re here and we can help.
“When I felt anxious, which was often because of everything going on, I would immediately go for my cigarettes. After a few weeks of TMS treatments, I didn’t even want to smoke anymore. I remember thinking to myself, “Ok. Something is working here.”
Rob, 37. Neuro Wellness SpaTMS Patient.
“I was so low energy, and any energy I did have was spent dwelling on my thoughts and my problems. Having a reason to get out of my house and come to TMS changed everything. Now, I look forward to starting my days. When I wake up, it feels like, “Go, go, go.”
Joanne, 42. Neuro Wellness SpaTMS Patient.
“I had tried basically every treatment possible for mental illness. Many medications, all types of therapy, even months of ECT and nothing worked for me long-term. I thought there were no other options until I found Dr. Koo. IV ketamine has been life-changing. It is my saving grace.”
Keith, 58. Neuro Wellness Spa IV Ketamine Patient
“My mood is very stable. If I need a release, I can cry without getting depressed. I know that [ketamine] is helping me get through this time. Without treatment, I think things would be very bleak for me right now, especially while I’m not able to have face-to-face time with my therapist.”
Katie, 23. Neuro Wellness Spa IV Ketamine Patient
