Your mental health is unique, your treatment should be, too. Genetic testing provides your healthcare provider with information about your genes and how they may influence your body’s metabolism of certain medications. This information may help your provider better manage your medications or treatment plan, creating a more personalized care plan for you.
Medications Are Not One-Size-Fits-All
Depression, anxiety, ADHD and other psychiatric conditions are often treated with a trial and error method including different medications and doses to find the right combination that will work best for you. As a result, it can take a long time for you and your doctor to find the right medication and dose that will work best for you. Unfortunately, when more treatment steps are required to treat depression, it reduces the likelihood of achieving full symptom remission.
Get Guidance Across Numerous Health Conditions
There are dozens of medications used to treat mental health conditions and selecting the right medication for you can be challenging. Genetic testing provides you and your healthcare provider with your specific, personalized gene report. The report contains information about how you may metabolize certain medications and how you may experience certain side effects from these medications. The results of genetic testing can be used by your healthcare provider to help select the best treatment plan for you. At Neuro Wellness Spa, we are proud to offer genetic testing through Tempus and Genomind.

How does genetic testing work?
Genetic testing is done through a saliva test. The sample can be collected in two ways: in-person at a Neuro Wellness Spa clinic with your provider, or at home if ordered by your Neuro Wellness Spa provider. Before taking the test, you must be NPO “nothing by mouth” for 45mins (this includes no smoking, no water, no chewing gum, no food etc). The test will take about 5-10 minutes to complete, from start to finish.
How long does it take to get my results?
Once the genetic testing center (Tempus or Genomind) receives your saliva sample, it takes approximately 8-14 days to sequence and generate your report. The report is delivered to your Neuro Wellness Spa provider.
Is genetic testing right for me?
It is important to talk to your Neuro Wellness Spa provider to find out if a genetic test is right for you! If you have not had success in finding a medication/dose combination that works well for managing your mental health, genetic testing may be able to help.
