Biography

Adam Kootman, MA, is a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist who works with adolescents and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, relationship difficulties, and challenges related to identity and self-esteem. He has particular interests in attachment, neurodivergence, men’s mental health, and the emotional pressures faced by creative professionals.

Adam’s approach is warm, collaborative, and emotionally attuned. Drawing from attachment-based, psychodynamic, and cognitive behavioral approaches, he helps clients understand the patterns shaping their emotions, behaviors, and relationships. Adam earned his Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology with an Emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pepperdine University. He has completed specialized training in Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy through the International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy. 

Before entering the mental health field, Adam spent more than a decade working as a composer and songwriter, a background that gives him firsthand insight into creativity, uncertainty, reinvention, burnout, and the pressure to perform.

Outside the therapy room, Adam is a proud father who enjoys hiking, rock climbing, and exploring Southern California.
