Dr. Martha Koo, M.D.

Biography

Dr. Martha B. Koo, M.D., LFAPA, FCTMSS, FASAM, is a board-certified psychiatrist, addiction medicine specialist, psychoanalyst, and certified psychedelic-assisted therapist.

She completed undergraduate studies at Princeton University, medical training at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, psychiatry residency training at the UCLA Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior, psychoanalytic training at the New Center for Psychoanalysis, and psychedelic-assisted therapy certification with the California Institute of Integral Studies.

For thirty years, Dr. Koo has enjoyed providing outpatient psychotherapy, psychoanalysis, and pharmacological treatment for individuals, couples, and families. A pioneer in the development and application of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), Dr. Koo was an early adopter of TMS, adding it to her private practice in 2009.

She is a Founder and Chief Medical Officer at NWS.  With a strong background in human psychodynamics, psychological theory, psychiatric medicine, and neuroscience, Dr. Koo has dedicated her career to community, academic, and professional advocacy for the advancement of psychiatric treatment to increase access and awareness to the most effective, personalized mental health interventions.

She is a passionate advocate for the use of novel treatment interventions for mental health. In her free time, Dr. Koo enjoyed yoga, playing the violin, and traveling.
