    Biography

    Sonia Cena is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) committed to providing compassionate, evidence-based care across the lifespan. She brings several years of clinical experience, including work in telemetry oncology and extensive experience in behavioral health.

    Sonia has practiced in both inpatient and outpatient settings, caring for adults, geriatric patients, and veterans. She has developed strong clinical expertise in treating depression, anxiety, mood disorders, and trauma-related conditions, and is dedicated to helping patients navigate life’s challenges with support and dignity.

    She earned her Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner degree from Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science. As a first-generation healthcare professional, she is passionate about increasing mental health awareness, reducing stigma, and empowering underserved communities to seek support without shame. 

    Her approach is holistic, trauma-informed, and patient-centered, emphasizing collaboration, trust, and whole-person wellness. She believes in treating the person while creating a safe, supportive space, where patients feel respected and heard. 

    Outside of her clinical work, Sonia enjoys spending time with her family and her dog, finding renewal in nature and the simple moments of everyday life, like watching the sunset.
