Psychiatry, Psychotherapy, and TMS Therapy for ADHD
At Neuro Wellness Spa, our team of experienced clinicians is dedicated to supporting you in achieving a thriving and successful life. We specialize in helping individuals manage ADHD, offering a range of tools, from medication options to effective coping skills.
ADHD, or Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, affects over 8 million adults in the United States. Studies indicate that fewer than 20% of adults with ADHD are aware of their condition despite experiencing symptoms. While ADHD has no cure, there are effective treatment options. Our team at Neuro Wellness Spa is committed to collaborating with you to develop a comprehensive treatment plan tailored to your specific needs.
How We Can Help Treat Your ADHD
Our psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, therapists, and other mental health experts work with you to address the core issues impacting your mental health and help you build the skills and resources to manage your ADHD. We provide:
Medication Management for ADHD
Our psychiatric practitioners will collaborate with you to determine if medication is appropriate for managing your ADHD symptoms. Medication is often the most effective treatment for ADHD. Many factors influence which medication is right for you (including your health history and mental health concerns).
The most common class of medications prescribed for ADHD are stimulants. These include Amphetamines, Dextroamphetamines, Dexmethylphenidate, Lisdexamfetamine, and Methylphenidate. However, patients with certain comorbid disorders may not be suitable candidates for stimulants and may benefit from alternative medications like Wellbutrin, an NDRI. Our team of psychiatrists thoroughly evaluates your medical history before making any recommendations or prescriptions.
Our psychiatrists may prescribe non-stimulant medication to help manage your ADHD. Non-stimulants can be an effective treatment and are a great choice when a stimulant isnโt the right fit.
Finally, our psychiatrists may prescribe antidepressants off-label to treat ADHD, as they can improve attention span while also limiting impulsivity, hyperactivity or aggressive behavior. Some patients with ADHD also suffer from depression and/or anxiety, so antidepressants can be useful for treating co-occurring symptoms as well.
TMS Therapy for ADHD
ADHD is linked with reduced amounts of the neurotransmitters norepinephrine and dopamine in the brain. This, in turn, results in neuronal connections not working properly. TMS works by stimulating these regions of the brain and stimulating the production of deficient neurotransmitters.
Although TMS therapy is not formally FDA-approved to treat ADHD, research indicates that it is an effective treatment for ADHD and is commonly used โoff-labelโ by our psychiatrists. Schedule a consultation today to see if you are a good fit for ADHD TMS therapy.
At Neuro Wellness Spa, we provide personalized TMS sessions in private treatment rooms, and covered by most insurance.
Talk Therapy for ADHD
We use several therapy modalities to treat ADHD. Our team of masters-level clinicians are trained in the most effective modalities and will work with you to develop a treatment plan that uniquely meets your needs.
- CBT or Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is often the most effective therapy modality for treating ADHD. CBT can help address procrastination, time management struggles and poor planning. CBT helps you develop new coping skills to address the ADHD behaviors that interfere with their daily lives. CBT uses psychoeducation, coping skills to address distractibility, and adaptive thinking.
- MBCT or Mindfulness Based CBT uses the principles of CBT while also integrating mindfulness and meditation, which have been shown to reduce daydreaming/mind wandering, assist in observing emotional states, emotional regulation, and improved executive functioning.
- DBT or Dialectical Behavior Therapy can also be an effective treatment. Initially developed to treat Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), DBT is now more widely used as a modality to treat a variety of mental illnesses including ADHD. Similar to CBT or MBCT, DBT helps you develop coping skills, emotional awareness, and mindfulness skills through its core principles of mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness.
Residential & Outpatient Programs for ADHD
If you need a higher level of care to manage your ADHD symptoms, we can work with you to determine if our partner program at Clear Behavioral Health is a good fit. Clear offers treatment that is proven to help you understand your ADHD, how to handle it, and share space with others who are also experiencing ADHD symptoms. Clear Behavioral Health is managed by the same experienced mental health clinicians as Neuro Wellness Spa and provides in-person and virtual outpatient (PHP and IOP) programs for ADHD.
