
Biography
Therese Apontti is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) raised in Los Angeles. She believes everyone is capable of change and is passionate in assisting others reach their highest potential. Therese believes that the door to what we seek starts with self-love, and that the more we learn how to give ourselves the love we need, the greater we can show up in our lives and for others.
Therese creates a safe and warm place for clients to be themselves so that they may feel safe to explore ways to live even more authentically. She approaches therapy from a holistic lens through compassion, curiosity, and acceptance. Therese meets clients where they are, helping them to uncover patterns where they feel stuck, and with gentleness and accountability, collaborates with clients in taking action steps that align with their values.
Therese is trained in evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), interpersonal therapy (IPT), motivational interviewing (MI), and procovery. She combines mindfulness and somatic practices, meditation, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and trauma informed care. She graduated with her Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from USC with a previous Bachelor’s in Psychology from UC Santa Cruz. She has 10 years of experience in the field working in community mental health with children and families, group home for at-risk teen girls, addiction residential treatment center for adults, IOP, those impacted by homelessness, as well as spiritual retreat centers.
Therese is a supporter and ally to the BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities. When Therese isn’t working, she enjoys smelling the roses and saying hello to pups, hot yoga, jazz dance, musical theater, meditating, and talking about life over a cup of coffee.
